Out of Time

time
Time flies.
I am still
In a flagrant abandon
Of urgent and important decisions.
A moment
Exists in a flow that catches
And keeps me afloat
In a summer haze and heat of a reality
Cyclical in nature.
An order parallel to the chaos,
Pain, and uncertainty of “real life”.
I drift in this flow of my choosing
Because sometimes a certain smile,
An attentive gaze, cause butterflies
To leap and dance
In a graceful maelstrom
That takes me by surprise
In a delicious wave of flutters
Barely touching the inside of my skin,
Catching something in my throat,
Running down my spine,
And telling me that this moment
Is timeless, outside of time,
A most real of realities.
Certainly universal, primal,
Precious, treasured, ephemeral
And indeed so glorious
That I cannot sustain its intensity,
And must glance away
From the sea of blue
Where I would drown willingly
…. Or I will stop thinking,
Breathing, and perhaps
Being.

Sea of blue
